Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs

  • 1 pound Ground Turkey or Chicken
  • ½ cup Breadcrumbs whole wheat or gluten-free
  • 1 large Egg
  • ¼ cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Paprika (smoked is recommended)
  • to taste Salt & Pepper
  • for frying Olive Oil

For the Lemony Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup Plain Yogurt (Greek yogurt preferred for creaminess)
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Fresh Dill or Mint (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey or chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix everything until just combined (don’t over-mix).
  • Form into 1.5-inch meatballs.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Carefully add the meatballs and cook in batches for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown.

Making the Sauce

  • While the meatballs are cooking, whisk together yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and any herbs being used.

Serving

  • Place meatballs on a platter, drizzle with lemony yogurt sauce, and garnish with extra herbs if desired.

Notes

Double the recipe and freeze half for easy meals later. You can sneak in finely chopped vegetables like spinach or zucchini into the meat mixture for added nutrition. For gluten-free options, swap breadcrumbs with a gluten-free alternative.
