Main ingredients

  • 1 pound kielbasa, sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 small head cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced (skins on if preferred)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth Substitutes like vegetable broth can be used.

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional) Adds flavor but can be skipped.
  • To taste Salt and pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Slice the kielbasa into bite-sized rounds.
  • Chop the cabbage, dice the potatoes, chop the onion, and mince the garlic.

Cooking

  • Layer the chopped cabbage on the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Add the diced potatoes, chopped onion, and minced garlic on top.
  • Top with the sliced kielbasa.
  • Sprinkle the smoked paprika and caraway seeds, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Pour the chicken broth over all the ingredients.
  • Set the slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours or high for about 4 hours.

Serving

  • Once cooking time is up, stir everything together and serve hot.

Notes

For a bit of heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days or freeze for later use.
