Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey) Use ground turkey for a lighter option.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce This adds a key flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper

For the Gravy

  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced Use a mix of mushrooms for more flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups beef broth Can be substituted with chicken or vegetable broth.
  • 2 tablespoons flour For thickening the gravy.
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • to taste Fresh parsley, chopped For garnish.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined.
  • Shape the mixture into 2-inch meatballs and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  • Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes until browned.

Gravy Preparation

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown.
  • Sprinkle in the flour, stirring continuously for 1 minute. Gradually add the beef broth and soy sauce, whisking until smooth and thick.
  • Once the meatballs are done, transfer them to the skillet with the gravy and let them simmer together for 5 minutes.

Serving

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat before serving.
