Ingredients

For the Panna Cotta

  • 2 cups heavy cream The richer, the better!
  • 1/2 cup sugar A little sweetness never hurt!
  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin This is the magic ingredient!
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Hello, flavor!
  • 1 pinch salt To balance the sweetness.

For the Passion Fruit Topping

  • 1 cup fresh passion fruit pulp You can find this in most grocery stores; it’s worth it!
  • 2 tablespoons sugar To balance the tartness.

Instructions

Bloom the Gelatin

  • Start by sprinkling the gelatin over 2 tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it’s spongy.

Heat the Cream Mixture

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves and little steam starts to rise.

Melt the Gelatin

  • Remove the saucepan from the heat, and while it cools slightly, add in your bloomed gelatin and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is perfectly mixed.

Pour and Chill

  • Divide the mixture evenly into individual serving cups and refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.

Create the Passion Fruit Topping

  • In a small bowl, mix the passion fruit pulp with sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.

Serve

  • Once your panna cotta is set, pour the passion fruit mixture on top and serve chilled.

Notes

No fresh passion fruit? Substitute canned passion fruit pulp or mango puree. Experiment with flavors by infusing your cream with fresh herbs, coffee, or spices like cardamom.
