  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3-4 cups all-purpose flour Adjust as needed
  • Oil For frying

Glaze Ingredients (Optional)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the frothy yeast mixture, remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir to mix everything.
  • Gradually add in 2 cups of flour and mix until a dough starts to form. Add more flour as needed until the dough is soft and slightly sticky.
  • On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it's smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • After rising, punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch thick. Cut out donuts with a donut cutter.
  • Place the donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover them again and let rise for 30 more minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 375°F. Fry the donuts in batches for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Remove donuts with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Dip the warm donuts in the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off.

Serving

  • Enjoy your homemade Krispy Kremes and savor the sweetness!

Notes

Donuts can be filled with cream or jam for added variety. If they look lumpy, they’ll still taste delicious! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for a day or two.
