Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature the kind of magic only butter can deliver!
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar, sifted let’s keep it sweet—literally!
  • 1 tablespoon milk because who doesn’t love a little creaminess?
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract or any flavor you prefer—vanilla is delightful too!
  • Food coloring optional, but come on, let’s make these look as good as they taste!

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  • Gradually blend in 3 cups of powdered sugar, followed by the milk and peppermint extract. Continue mixing until you achieve a soft, thick dough.
  • If it feels too sticky, sprinkle in that last cup of powdered sugar until it’s manageable.
  • If you’re feeling festive, divide the dough into sections and add a few drops of food coloring.
  • Roll small pieces of dough into small balls, then flatten them slightly with your fingertips or a fork for an elegant crisscross design.
  • Place the shaped mints on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until they are firm.
  • Once they’re nice and set, serve them to guests or enjoy them yourself.

Notes

Get creative with flavor variations like chocolate mint or almond. Store your homemade butter mints in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. You can use cookie cutters for fun shapes.
