Ingredients

For the Grilled Steak

  • 2 pieces boneless ribeye steaks (or your favorite cut)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)

For the Mashed Potatoes

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup milk (or cream for a richer flavor)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Green Beans

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation of Grilled Steak

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high. Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
  • In a small bowl, mix the olive oil and minced garlic, then rub onto both sides of the steaks.
  • Grill the steaks for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, adjusting time as desired. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Whip Up Those Mashed Potatoes

  • Place the diced potatoes in a pot and cover with water. Boil until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add milk, butter, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Cooking the Green Beans

  • In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and trimmed green beans. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until bright green and tender.
  • Add garlic and season with salt and pepper, stirring occasionally.

Notes

For leftover mashed potatoes, consider mashing in some cheese for a quick breakfast hash. Use a meat thermometer for grilling steaks; a medium steak reaches about 145°F. Add lemon juice to green beans before serving for a fresh twist.
