  • 4 large russet potatoes Washed and peeled
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Mixed with salt and pepper
  • 2 large eggs Lightly whisked
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Panko works best for extra crunch
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • as needed Oil for frying Alternatively, use an air fryer

For the Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash and peel the russet potatoes, then slice them into rings about ¼ inch thick.
  • Set up three separate bowls: one with flour mixed with salt and pepper, one with lightly whisked eggs, and another with breadcrumbs mixed with paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Coating and Frying

  • Dip each potato ring into the flour mixture, shake off excess, then dunk it into the egg, and finally coat it in the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the potato rings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Transfer fried rings to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Making the Dressing

  • In a bowl, mix together buttermilk, mayonnaise, dill, and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add a splash of hot sauce to the ranch. Use an air fryer at 400°F for 15-20 minutes if you want to cut down on oil.
