Ingredients
  

For the Doughnut Holes

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • Oil for frying Ensure enough oil to cover the doughnut holes.

For the Cream Filling

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: a splash of chocolate syrup for drizzling

For the Chocolate Glaze

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions
 

Make the Doughnut Holes

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg, milk, and melted butter. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Heat oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, use a small cookie scoop or spoon to drop the batter into the oil. Fry until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove the doughnut holes and drain on a paper towel.

Prepare the Filling

  • In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until it forms soft peaks.

Assemble Your Doughnut Holes

  • Using a small piping bag or plastic zip bag, fill each cooled doughnut hole with the cream mixture.

Make the Glaze

  • Melt the chocolate chips and butter in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  • Drizzle the chocolate glaze over the filled doughnut holes.

Notes

Don’t overcrowd the pan while frying to avoid soggy doughnuts. Try swapping chocolate for caramel for a different twist.
