For the Dry Rub

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Can substitute with honey.
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika Adds a smoky flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional, for heat.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon thyme Can substitute with other herbs.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel off the membrane on the back of the ribs for tenderness.
  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne (if using), salt, and thyme. Stir until well mixed.
  • Generously apply the dry rub all over the ribs and let them sit for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.

Cooking

  • Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place seasoned ribs in the air fryer basket and cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Check for doneness; ribs should have a caramelized exterior and reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Cook longer if more tenderness is desired.

Serving

  • Slice the ribs and serve with preferred sides, such as coleslaw or sweet corn.

Notes

Massage the dry rub into the meat for maximum flavor. Adjust the rub ingredients based on pantry items. Pair with fresh veggies or a salad for a complete meal.
